Ah yes, I suppose that it wouldn't have mattered to me at all what everybody there wore if I hadn't gone, but that wasn't my point.
Actually, it didn't matter for several reasons: it was really dark in there, we were seated, conversation was intimate and animated, several ladies were either pregnant or nursing. But, for me, the main reason I didn't focus too much on what was worn was that I had given careful attention to what I would wear and so I wasn't self-conscious.

Just what I said I was going to: jeans and high-heeled boots, my pink 3/4 sleeve blazer. I actually found that I have a brown tee-shirt that isn't crew-neck, so I wore that.
I am seriously considering posting what I am planning on wearing prior to every event, just in case it is helpful to someone who is wondering. Although one friend said she hadn't been worried about what to wear until I asked. (She probably would have been sooner or later.)
