Grow Up Your Wardrobe Painlessly
Occasionally I will come across someone who dresses as if it didn't matter, but really isn't happy about it. To which person I desire to say: Biff the message tees! Replace them with something pretty like this lovely ($88) marc by marc jacobs tee.
Finding everyday clothing that functions without looking frumpy, or just plain sloppy, is a worthy goal, if for no other reason than to raise your husband's esteem. Simple, stylish tee-shirts can be found at all price points. Upgrade your winter wardrobe with sweaters that fit and function like tees.
It works for me. Can't you just see me in this shirt?

Nice dressing tip!
I’ve posted a WFMW tip as well, involving an alternate use for a pot rack. Stop by and take a peek. :)
This sort of goes with Shannon's tip about spelling, as well as my own, because it's all part of those little things that make up "The Big Picture of Life." Dressing like a slob means you don't care! And I, for one, would like to see a law against anyone over 6 wearing cutesy shirts with teddy bears on them, LOL! I couldn't afford that t-shirt in your picture, but there is always a lower-priced or on-sale version! (And I love "What Not to Wear"!)
Beautiful shirt, will just have to wait for a sale =))
Being a SAHM, I am a pretty casual gal, but I agree, I enjoy buying a "new" casual Tshirt in the latest color or style. I'm still casual, but at least I'm making a stab at being stylish.
By the way, I enjoyed following your links in the last few posts so much that I added you to my favorites so I can remember to come back more often. I am not "with it" at all, but I need to try harder with the clothes, I think.
I SO agree. And I used to wear message 'Ts'(a looong time ago), but there are so many other prettier, classier options. I frequent the local thrifts and find some gorgeous outfits, so why settle for frumpy?
Hmmm... it is kind of long, but yes, I could see you in this (that grey/blue is your new favorite color isn't it?), although only if you paid less than $10 for it. Good luck with that!
I just today bought a new sweater. It doesn't work like a tee (it is a cardigan), but I had been thinking about it since I tried it on Saturday. I also tried on another at half the price, but decided to go for the one that looked and felt right rather than the cheaper one.

That's cool, Beth. Cardigans work like blazers. :>
And I just bought a long tee, but it's brown (imagine THAT). Yes, I think I have a brown in just about every silhouette of knit shirt that I wear: tank, crew-neck sleeveless tee, jewel-neck shortsleeve tee, boatneck capsleeve tee (that's the new one), longsleeve crewneck, longsleeve turtleneck. Have I missed anything?
Very nice tip. I refuse to wear message t's. My kids wouldn't allow it anyway. When my girls were teens (they are now 21 and almost 26) they were determined to have me dress in a non-frumpy manner. When I leave the house I never look frumpy. In my house I always wear comfy :)
Wow, too funny! I have to admit that I'm guilty of not always dressing like I like myself. I really need to work on it more! Thanks for the tips!!
Hear! Hear!
Disclaimer: I own one "message shirt" -- a long sleeved hoodie promoting Manolo's shoe blog.
I love the tee you've shown (and yes, it would look very fine on you), and the length makes it perfect with the skinny jean look, as well as with casual skirts. Added bonus: grays are so big for fall.
Wendy, that's a perfect example of knowing when to "break the rules", or make exceptions. :)
